Friendly Visiting and Companionship Living alone or with disabilities can leave one feeling isolated. Volunteers make friendly visits and calls, write letters, and assist with paying bills. Light Household Chores and ErrandsFaith in Action volunteers help with things like: meal preparation, laundry & light housekeeping, grocery shopping and other errands. This can mean the difference between staying put and uprooting a lifetime of memories.
Minor Home Repairs and Yard Work There is a downside to living in your own home--the snow to shovel, the leaves to rake, and the minor fix-ups. FIA volunteers can lend a helping hand to those in need.
Local Transportation Many frail, elderly, and disabled people no longer drive, but still need to get to the grocery, beauty shop, doctor's office, church services, and other places. FIA drivers enable people to accomplish these tasks. |
