YOUTH GROUPS HELP SENIOR CITIZENS Many thanks to 61 Girls Scouts and their parents who completed several service projects on October 4. The girls, ages 5 to 12, were busy washing windows, planting flowers, cleaning houses and trimming bushes (all the things they hate to do at home) as well as spending time visiting with our care recipients. The girls also decorated Christmas cards which will be sent to care recipients in December. We all had a wonderful time and their efforts were greatly appreciated.
On October 8, forty-one students from Fairfield Christian Academy also helped 12 care recipients throughout the county by cleaning gutters, doing yardwork and other chores. We are very fortunate to have such caring young people in our community. During the Rake-a-thon on November 6, teams from Avalon United Brethren Church and Covenant Christian Church worked enthusiastically throughout the day to rake leaves and clean yards. The following weekend, a group from Lancaster Community Church finished bagging the leaves and trimmed bushes for another care recipient. Through team efforts, volunteers completed more than 600 hours of service!
